Is there a natural cure for Psoriasis?

What is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. Psoriasis has degrees of Severity, and is measured by PASI (Psoriasis Area Severity Index).

There are four known types of Psoriasis, and they are:

Plaque Psoriasis.

Plaque Psoriasis On The ScalpThe most common form of Psoriasis is Plaque Psoriasis. While it can appear on the scalp, arms, legs, trunk or any part of the skin the typical areas affected are the knees and elbows. Skin that appears red and is covered with silvery scales and inflamed. patches of circular to oval shaped red plaques that itch or burn is characteristic of Plaque Psoriasis. Plaque Psoriasis is hereditary but non contagious. It is estimated that about 5.5 to 6 million Americans suffer from Plaque Psoriasis

This is a rather uncommon type of psoriasis. Pustular Psoriasis Pustular Psoriasis is characterized by clearly defined and raised bumps under the skin filled with (pustules). The skin under and around these bumps is inflamed and red. However the skin changes that occur before, during and after an episode of Pustular Psoriasis may be the similar to regular psoriasis.

Guttate Psoriasis.

Guttate PsoriasisGuttate Psoriasis is another uncommon form of Psoriasis. It is estimated that of all Psoriasis sufferers about only 2% suffer from Guttate psoriasis It is more common in children and young adults under the age of 30. Boys and girls are equally affected. ‘Gutta’ in Latin means drop. Guttate Psoriasis is characterized by small, salmon-pink scaly drop like lesions on the skin.

Flexural Psoriasis

Flexural Psoriasis can co-exit with the common Plaque Psoriasis, or it may exist by itself. Flexural psoriasis can affect any area where skin is folded or rubs together. The plaques in Flexural Psoriasis are usually red, smooth and may look shiny. The edges are usually well defined. They may be very uncomfortable and painful.

Unlike common psoriasis plaques on the rest of the body, they don’t usually have white scales. Areas most affected are the armpits, under the breasts, the groin and genital area, between the buttocks. Whatever be the type of Psoriasis it is a chronic disease, and regarded by many as incurable.

This website believes that there is a natural treatment for Psoriasis.

To treat Psoriasis successfully we must first understand the disease. Our success to healing ourselves of Psoriasis is first to understand it. Having understood it, we then set about healing ourselves in the most natural ways avaialable.

Put very simply, and as explained by John O A Pagano, Book Coverin his book, Healing Psoriasis: The Natural Alternative, Psoriasis is an external manifestation of an internal problem. Psoriasis is not originating in the skin, but it is toxins from inside making its way out through the skin.

The path to the successful treatment of Psoriasis lies in that profound statement. Dr Pagano’s book establishes that Psoriasis, like Eczema, can be prevented, controlled and even cured with natural treatment, without the use of external treatments like tar baths, ultra violet light, drugs, and steroid creams.

According to the book, Psoriasis and Eczema, find their origin in the intestinal tract. It urges us to take a different look at the problem, a look from the inside out, rather than from the outside in, paving the way for a new approach to the treatment of the disease.

The theory is that the problem stems from a build up of toxins (poisons) in the intestinal tract and the condition of thin, porous, intestinal walls allows these toxic elements to "seep" through (now referred to as "The Leaky Gut Syndrome"), causing a pollution of the lymphatic and blood circulatory system. These toxins are then expelled by the body through the sweat glands, resulting in the swelling and lesions on the skin which we all know as Psoriasis Dr. Pagano further emphasizes that a proper DIET and adequate ELIMINATIONS are a major part of the solution This website is dedicated to such treatments and has links to them at the bottom of the page.

Hi Noel, first thanks for your experiences shared here. Psoriasis is a very difficult skin disease. As a Chinese medicine practitioner, I ever treated a dozen of patients suffering from psoriasis, among which some of them are improved. For herbs, I hope we can exchange views about that. Thank you again.

    Santosh,

A lot’s been said about how omega 3 fatty acids can help with symptoms. Omega 3 helps reduce inflammation and softens cell walls. Good sources of omega 3 fatty acids are fish, walnuts, and olive oil.

You might also want to supplement zinc as it has a role in over 3000 chemical processes that take place in the human body.

This article is really helpful. However i would like to share few home remedies that can be helpful in treating psoriasis.

Don’t pick at scales. New ones may form

Sunlight helps clear up the skin. The trick is to stay in the sun until just before you burn

Use warm water to soak the scaly parts when the scales are plumped up gently remove them with a loofah or pumice stone
