Chaga - The Medicinal Mushroom
Treatment of Psoriasis with Chaga Fungus Preperations

Chaga (Botanical name: Inonotus Obliquus) is the Russian name for a mushroom with exceptionally remarkable medicinal qualities.
The natural habitat of this mushroom are the birch forests situate in the coldest areas of the Northern hemisphere, such as Siberia and parts of North America, North-Korea and China. The inhabitants of Siberia, the native Americans and the Chinese have been using this mushroom's for its medicinal properties for thousands of years.
Since the 1950s the Chaga mushroom or "Inonotus Obliquus" has become the subject of intensive medical research.
The medicinal elements found in the Chaga Mushroom are polysaccharides the special type of carbohydrates, normally found in all medicinal mushrooms, betulinic acid, a compound only found in Chaga mushrooms, several phytosterols, and a very high amount of melanin, a natural anti-oxidant that gives this mushroom its black colour and is responsible for Chaga having one of the highest levels of anti-oxidants found in natural foods.
The melanin component of the Chaga mushroom protects it against the harsh environment (extreme cold, UV radiation e.g.) in which it has to survive. The chemical components of this melanin were found to have DNA-regenerating and protective properties. One could say it's a type of natural anti-rust. A way to determine the level of this activity is to determine the so-called ORAC-level (oxygen radical absorbance capacity). Chaga was found to have one of the highest levels ever found in natural foods. This adds anti-aging and revitalizing properties to the already impressive list of Chaga's qualities. In addition several research articles also pointed out Chaga's anti-ulcer and anti-gastritis capacities.
There are current discussions on "Team Inspire" the "Talk Psoriasis Online Community" of the National Psoriasis Foundation where a patient has claimed that her psoriasis has completely vanished after the continuous use of 'Chagga Extracts" for a few weeks.
